Its almost that time of year again, Valentines Day. People all around the world exchange gifts and cards with there loved ones. Valentines Day is also the secent largest card sending holiday of the year with an estimated of 141 million cards sent each year. 85 percent of all valentines are purchased by woman. February 14 is named Valentines Day in honer of St. Valentine, who was a priest. Valentine believed that solders should not have to remain single and secretly performed marriage ceremonies. As a result Valentine was put to death on February 14. Emperor Cladius believed that the solders remained single because he believed the solders would not beable to concentrate if they were engaged or married.
Cupid
Ever wonder why Cupid is associated with Valentine's Day? Originally Cupid was the son of Eros, the goddess of love and beauty. As many know Cupid shoots magical arrows and people and makes them fall in love, although he not only causes others to fall in love, he also fell in love himself. As the story story goes, Cupid fell deaply in love with a mortal woman whos name was Psyche. Cupid married Psyche but his mother was jealous and forbid her daughter-in-law to look at Cupid although Psyche could not resist and took a peak at her husband anyhow. Eros punished Psyche and demanded she do three tasts and the last one resulted in her death. Cupid then brought Psyche back to life and the gods where so moved by there love they granted Psyche immortality.

In 2010 a comedy/Romance movie was released called Valentine's Day. The movie stars Julia Roberts, Jaime Foxx, and Anne Hathaway. Valentines Day is about intertwining couples in Los Angeles break-up and make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentines Day. Amazon has this great movie for sale at a cost of $3.94 and on blue-ray for $19.98. The movie would make a great gift idea for Valentines Day.
