Doing Christmas loans from HR Block-H & R Block Income Tax-My emerald card for Xmas Holiday
63I have been going through HR Block ever since I can remember, although I used to work for the company years ago, I know the cost is crazy to go to although I still do for the simple reason I can get part of my return the same day and I always need the money. I also get there Christmas loan around November. In 2008 I received $1200 in November which really helped me alot with Christmas gifts that year. In 2009 I received $800 because they lowered the amound they gave people.
HR Block
I went to HR block a few days ago because I was elligable for a first time home buyers credit. I know I am a little late on filing for the house that I bought last year but I have had so much going on in my life, I kept delaying on doing it. I purchased my home for 15,000 so the IRS owed me 1500. A person gets 10% back or up to 8,000 for the purchase of the first home. Ofcourse after mailing out my return the IRS sends it back and requests the HUD settlement statement although I attached the purchase agreement. i supose the IRS wants to make sure the person actually bought the home, fair enouph. I will get the money back some day. While I was at HR Block I decided to ask my tax prepairer about my daughters baby, Brionna Levine. She was born 8-11-10 and past away 9-25-10. Brionna only lived about six weeks. The tax prepairer stated, whenever a baby is born, as long as it is not still born, you may claim the baby for the entire year. She also stated she had a baby years ago that only lived ten minutes and jshe was able to claim the baby for the whole year. Wow, what wonderful news.
Another question I asked the prepairer was when HR Block was giving out the Christmas loans this year. The prepairer stated November 18, 2010. Last year I drove to New York to recieve the Christmas loan as they were doing them sooner in New York. aparently the lady also stated this year, PA will be doing the loans before New York.
On november 18, 2010 I went to H&R Block and recieved the holiday loan. I recieved 900 this year, it was put on my emerald card that day.

what is the cost in ga for a christmas loan with h&r block
You must go to an HR Block office to get the loan.
can u do the loan at home and not go in the office
I have used h and r block for the last 6 years and lasgt year was the first year that I did not file with them due to a leave of absence from my job. It made no sense to file with them because I was only getting back a few hundred dollars. I went to them yesterday to get a holiday loan and was told that if you did not physically go into an office and file via h and r block last year you are not eligible for the loan. I was extremely disappointed and upset considering I have done my taxes with them prior to the past year and that they still have my information from the last 6 years. Do not waste your time if you did not file in office with them last year.
I heard they are doing credit check before they give u this loan. Is this true?

I was told the loan amount can be up to 800. It depends on your refund amount.

If the local hr block in your area is not the christmas loan can u go to another hr block in the same state?
As far as I am aware all states with HR Block will have the Christmas loan available for 2011.
What locations of h&R block are doing the loans this year.

Oh I know jrlamp, people may have been confused with them not doing Rapid refund anymore but yes they are doing Christmas loans. So many of us need them. I made my appointment for 9am as soon as HR Block opens on the 28th.

DO THEY CHARGE A TAX ON THIS LOAN WHEN YOU BORROW?
In NYS and PA it is November 28, I called both offices and HR informed me it starts on these dates. Your state could be different.

You must of had your taxes filed with HR block with in the last two years to take advantage of there Christmas loan.
what if you don't do your taxes with them can you still get the loan????
HR Block stated today they will be starting there Christmas loans November 28, 2011.

My boyfriend and I both went to HR Block and I recieved $800 but they gave me 755 and he got $500 but they gave him 455. He also has no children to claim and I only have one. He also has never been to HR Block in the past.
